Last week, Denis Davydov, a rising Artist from Uzbekistan, opened his first show in Paris : JONIM.

“JONIM” means darling, something close to your heart…

Davydov takes into the digital space one of the oldest know-hows of the Uzbeki culture : Ceramic sculpture.

The work showcased by Davydov reflects several eras of Uzbeki culture where the art of ceramics has to be molded to adapt to a frequently changing social and political paradigm.

By juxtaposing recognizable symbols from so different eras in one artwork and combining several artistic mediums,  Davydov gives to the created characters an ironically subversive and polyphonic identity. For instance, a Soviet athlete glorified by the state propaganda of the time could also be perceived here as a “rich kid” from TikTok…

The opening gathered an eclectic crowd of Art lovers, digital Art geeks and just curious happy people…
