Yesterday, the Parisian concept store Centre Commercial rue Madame hosted the launch of VEJA + Lemaire collaboration.

The exclusive and innovative models were introduced during the evening by an artistic performance by the choreographer Arnaud Deprez.

Gathering top range brands since 2010, Centre Commercial is opening a new 100 square meters location, left bank, between Saint Germain des Prés and Le Jardin du Luxembourg, in the famous street Rue Madame.

Last Tuesday night, Jimmy Fairly celebrated the opening of its brand new shop, located on 22 rue du Four, just by Saint-germain-des-prés… For the occasion the glasses brand invited Influencers and cool kids to discover the glasses customisation and share a few drinks while listening  a smooth dj set by coolest duo Polo & Pan.

Last Thursday, the Uzik agency and the Calvi On The Rocks team celebrated the launch of their new club Communion. Last Friday, the famous department store group Isetan Mitsukoshi was hosting at his parisian conceptstore The Japan Store the private launch party of the new bagpacks brand Randsellier.

Happy guest were welcome to discover the Randsellier unisex and vegan concept inspired by traditionnal japonese schoolbackpack called Randoseru around a glass of champagne and japonese food tasting.

A few steps away, from the Luxembourg garden, the André Latin hotel launched its cocktail bar imagined by interior designer Michaël Malapert. After a few month of renovation, this latin quarter symbol lift the curtain on a new «dandy»univers, celebrating «André», the owners great grand father a XIXth century dandy. Fir this occasion,  the artists Kylam and Ivan 14 covered  with their graphic drawings the room 669 located, turning it into a real Art room with a stunning view on the Val de Grace.
Reflecting the will to fit with the neighborhood cultural lifestyle spirit.

Last thursday night was the opening of a new left bank concept store dedicated to men’s fashion the PHM SAINTS PERES. Created by artistic director Pierre Henri Mattout, this intimate shop will propose an interesting selection of influent street wear brands (supreme, Le coq sportif limited edition) and more eccentric pieces (Lanvin, Watanabe).

On the eve of the long-awaited Grand Opening of Faust, we caught up with Tajer & Whelan, the Creative Directors of the space to discuss historical monuments and UK Bass…

Ten Days: So, what took you guys so long?!

John Whelan: Haha, good question –welcome to France I guess! It’s been a massive challenge working on such a prestigious monument. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site and so the rules and regulations concerning what you can and cannot do are extremely stringent – this necessarily made everything take much longer than usual, as validation was required for every detail.

Ten Days: We’ve been in and had a look, it’s fuckin’ classic! What were the inspirations behind the design?

John Whelan: Our philosophy is always the same – we’re interested in respecting the heritage of the venue in question. It was the same for Le Pompon, we wanted to restore its original features and only add coherent elements. This approach was re-applied here, so Beaux Arts decorative flourishes and industrial structures were key inspirations, along with Goethe’s ‘Faust’ providing the poetic licence!

Ten Days: Justement, how will Faust differ from Le Pompon?

Charaf Tajer: First of all, Faust is a restaurant, terrasse and club, and so we’re offering more than one experience this time. Le Pompon by contrast is a family affair and the nightlife articulation of our movement ‘PPP’ (Pompon, Pain O Chokolat, Pigalle). Faust is much bigger, and therefore cannot be as exclusive by definition. For this new venture, we want to give people a more diverse programme, but always with the same energy and enthusiasm that characterised our previous venues.

Ten Days in Paris: So will this affect the music selection?

Charaf Tajer: Of course. There’s still going to be a fair bit of Hip Hop but the programme will embrace more ‘clubby’ sounds like UK Bass and Electro, in a non-pretentious way bien sur. We want Faust to be a party place, where you can laugh and dance, not stand in a corner and nod your head.

Ten Days: And what’s going on with Le Pompon anyway, is it ever going to reopen?

Charaf Tajer: For sure! We’ve just been prioritising, that’s all. While we’ve been getting to grips with working on such a different scale, Le Pompon has been touring the world, doing pop ups in New York, Miami, Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong to name but a few. We’ll be looking to open Le Pompon in Pigalle once we are happy with how Faust is working out.

Ten Days: And Jackets?

 John Whelan: Same for Jackets. We’re still of the opinion that Paris lacks a stupid rock n’ roll dive bar, so we’ll be addressing that very serious issue in the not too distant future.

Why should you go?

Because it pretty much has everything that’s why. It’s on a boat on the Seine, food, bar, restaurant, club and wait for it…even a small pool to dip your toes into when you feel that summer sweat coming on or if you’re really just gagging to show off that summer bod you’ve been prepping all year for! So don’t forget your bathing suits boys and girls and have no fear, the normal Parisian rules of tight speedos and bathing caps do not apply!

Replenish yourself!

Summer time eating means good fresh food alongside some juicy fruity drinks that will keep you hydrated/liquored up enough to last all night. Le Playtime delivers this need perfectly with a menu of grilled meats, healthy salads and a selection of drinks to drool over. One recommends the brochette porc au caramel with a large spritzer on the side. Sweet and meaty just the way you like it! All in all if you want a cosy, chilled, down to earth and deliciously refreshing summer vibe with a beautiful setting then head to Le Playtime where the name really does sum it up!

After one of the biggest building sites that Parisian nightlife has ever seen, FAUST is finally about to open its doors.

Imagined by TAJER & WHELAN, the duo behind LE POMPON and JACKETS (re-opening shortly), this colossal project under the Pont Alexandre III aims to tick all the boxes. A spectacular brasserie in the Grand Parisian tradition, headed by Michelin-starred Chef Christophe Langree. A glorious sun-drenched terrasse on the banks of the Seine. And a cavernous converted car tunnel that promises to be the most impressive-looking club in Paris. 

Is this going be the game changer we’ve all been waiting for? We sincerely hope so.

Le Baron crew just announced their artistic take over of one of our favorite places in town: La Pérouse.
Located on the docks of the left bank, La Pérouse is a mythical mansion from the 18^th century that used to be an intellectual hotspot (Victor Hugo and Maupassant, among others, used to hang out here).
In more recent history, this slightly overpriced restaurant (with private dining room) /cocktail club had a random life unworthy of such an amazing setting.
So Le Baron team took on the huge responsibility of doing it the right way.
The plan: a Gentlemen’s club-style piano bar, DJ sets and absinth cocktails…

It might finally be the place on the left bank for a pre-drinking party before the Montana, Castel or Don K,

A lot of expectations, so let’s hope for the best!

Bare breasts and Saint Germain cool are the motto of le Don K. Cult overkitsch tourist spot Don Camillo is now le Don K Friday and Saturday nights beginning at 1am, when it is taken over by Left Bank nightbirds too lazy to go to le Raspoutine. The vibe is total Saint Germain vintage: mirrors covering the walls, intimate lighting, DJ selectors, burlesque shows, and, of course, lots of tables for bottle service… All of which help us remember that at one time the 6th district was the shit.

So, if you are up for popping champagne with your Left Bank friends while watching busty burlesque dancers strut their stuff, now you know where to spend your weekend nights. Oh, and in the next few months, Castel, another cult spot from the 60’s, will be taken over by the team of le Montana–maybe the new trend will be to leave hipster Pigalle parties for some vintage-bourgeois Saint Germain fun…

Born and raised in France to Italian parents, the dynamic frèros have carved an impressive empire out of Parisian nightlife, by combining their DJ skills, hardcore networking, two matching sets of creative eyes and a natural ability to organize soirées that bring together the city’s hottest men and women who you don’t otherwise get the opportunity to come across during the daylight hours.

After more than a decade of making the rounds through some of Paris’s most exclusive spots, the duo has decided to plant their Italian roots in a place they can finally call their own. Enter Le Fourbi.

Formerly home to a left-bank bar à putes, think of it as your new bar à potes, where l’apéro becomes l’apéritivo with an original wine and cocktail menu à l’italienne full of light, bubbly concoctions that will have you daydreaming of weekend getaways to Venice or take you there in spirit. Rossini, Portofino, Cicciolina — the drinks roll easily off your tongue and go to your head like a Champagne buzz. There’s also a wide selection of natural Italian wines starting at 5 euros a glass (eg. Chianti Colli Senesi, Myrto, etc.) and artisanal beers.

It wouldn’t be a real apéritivo without something to snack on, so order an “assiette apéritivo,” a buffet trio made up of three different types of Italian charcuterie, cheeses and grilled vegetables, perfect for nibbling while sipping.

Ambiance-wise, the bar is intimate and chic with cozy, lush, pillow-covered benches lining the wall and candlelit tables, but it evokes an edginess that’s been lacking in the otherwise dormant 7th arrondissement. A wall mural with old clippings, pieced-together posters of nude bombshells and miscellaneous blended images adds a touch of sexy nostalgia, in addition to the bottom half of a fox protruding from the back wall and another furry creature in shades by the bar with cigarette in mouth and mini liquor bottle in paw. It’s kind of why Adrien and Anthony named the place “Le Fourbi” — a bit all over the place yet somehow coherent.

Aside from their other entrepreneurial/DJ/nightlife/design endeavors, for now think of “Les Jumeaux” as a pair of studly Italian mad scientists and Le Fourbi as their lab. Thirsty test subjects bienvenus.

Each puff is injected on the spot with your choice of a light cream mixture that resembles a mousse made with sugar and fromage blanc and mixed with various flavors, including chocolate, coffee, and the classic “nature” for those who prefer the original model. Another flavor is offered according to seasonal ingredients (strawberry, raspberry, pink litchi, etc.) always fresh and always organic, to reassure the health-conscious foodies whose indulgence prerequisites include “bio” at the top of the list.

So go on, take a puff of pleasure, and revel in the creamy, crunchy high that will make you an addict and give new meaning to the phrase “afternoon delight.”

After a number of rather unpleasant experiences involving smoked salmon, cream cheese and sweet soy sauce, my tryst with souped-up sushi in Paris was almost at an end. But Blueberry has restored my confidence – the maki is creative, original and most importantly, totally divine.

The blue-lit cavernous walls, sleek modern furniture and colourful Japanese lanterns make the space feel somewhere between an aquarium, a Philippe Starck bar and a temple. But somehow it works.

Cool kids in pumped up kicks ogle over the Iroquois (marinated beef, coriander, cucumber, sesame and piment d’espelette) while cosy couples ruminate over the Rackham le Rouge (tempura prawn, soy marinated tuna, truffle, cucumber, spicy mayonnaise, flying fish roe and chive). The sung choi bao style sea bream ceviche with grapefruit was simple but punchy, the Little Miss Yuzu (yuzu marinated salmon tataki, raspberry, mango, salade and thai chive) was exquisitely eccentric, and the creamy black sesame ice cream was a perfect finishing touch.

From the inedible to the indelible – imaginative maki has made its mark on Paris and, judging by the crowds, it is here to stay.  So put Blueberry in your Blackberry and make a reservation.
