Cocktails and literature at Le Carmen

From short stories to literary novels, writer’s guides to steampunk fantasy, all kinds of books turned up at the Book Club at Le Carmen on Wednesday. In the sumptous setting which was once where Bizet threw debauched private parties, the Tale of Three Cities trio hosted their event of the “rentrée”. The idea is to bring a book that meant something to you, and swap it for one someone else has loved. With a soundtrack of live gypsy jazz provided by Alex Toledano, a literary crowd sipped cocktails and eyed up the trendy books around them.
