Wong joined the design team of A.P.C. in 2005 after working as a menswear designer at Louis Vuitton. This winter he will launch an eponymous capsule collection of jackets as a sub-label of A.P.C for Autumn Winter 2012 that will be sold in selected stores and online boutiques. The debut collection consists of three styles–aviator, perfecto, and bomber–and will be inspired by French police films of the 70s such as Exterieur Nuit and Le Choix des Armes. If you cannot wait to be as hot as a vintage, leather-clad French policeman, he has put together a selection of the best spots where you can find him.

1/la place Dauphine

A theatrical place, enclosed in an atypical triangle where I like to go over and over. Kind of funny to see people playing petanque between former royal buildings. Paris is always inspiring in its archi-dramatic way. It’s kind of curious that more movie scenes aren’t shot there.

Good Japanese restaurants are often a culinary delight but are totally depressing. Here the ambiance is closer to a bistro vibe. The wine list is very good, which makes it festive… Finally, it’s also good when you are in a romantic mood.

3/Le Montana

Initially a cozy annex to the clubs of the 8th (models & money people), this club sometimes reaches heights of decadence.  The lack of privacy warms people up, women become the objects of fights, and men parade at the bar… A real modern saloon.

4/le Bailly

Recently appropriated by a Parisian youth bored by the neo traditional bistros that are taking over Paris. This old dive is strategically located at the corner angle at arts et métiers. I find that it ages the la rue de Bretagne. Even if the word has lost its meaning, it’s kind of rock’n’roll. And the crowd is cool.

5/le Bonne Nouvelle

Conversely, the gay community felt that they have a right to the dirty coolness of the 9th/10th arrondissements. The spot is improbable, between le Grand Rex and the McDonald’s at Poissoniere. The vibe is typical of the area, the crowd different from the people that frequent the rue des Archives… One night Batman was on the roof of le Rex–it convinced me.
