Adrien Wend is the door supervisor at le Carmen and DJ at le Montana. Last Saturday he took us along for one of his regular nights of debauchery: shots at Stollys, beer at Jackets, down time at le Café de Flore, dancing at le Montana, and ending the night at le Carmen…  He took some photos with his Nokia Lumia 925, focusing on white light with reference to the album by the Velvet Underground and the recent death of Lou Reed.

For the latest “where to meet,” we spoke with the atypical furrier Quentin Veron in his workshop in the 10th. Trainee-turned-boss of the atelier where he currently works, his passion for fur, springing from his suprizing love of animals (he grew up in an environment based around horse riding), has led him to do haute couture fashion shows during Paris Fashion Week and to dress notorious personalities like Pete Doherty, Vanessa Paradis, and Johnny Depp. He revealed to us the spots where he likes to hang out when he is not working on animal skins.

Stolly’s

I like to spend time there with my musician friends. It successfully combines the pub vibe and small local dive bar vibe in a discrete street.

Stolly’s /16 rue Cloche-Perce / 75004 / metro Saint Paul

Bar Hemingway

I always go there for a whisky with a book in hand. The bartender there is adorable and always knows the story behind every liquor or cocktail he serves. I’m not that talkative, but the tiny setting makes it very friendly. It feels like a luxurious place with a local cafe vibe.

Bar Hemingway / 15, Place Vendôme,75001 Paris

Puce de Saint Ouen & vintage shops

Les Puces de Saint Ouen are perfect for inspiration and checking out old stuff. I especially like the taxidermy and furniture boutiques.
I don’t really have as much time to go shopping as I used to, but for second hand items I usually go to Guerissol, Noir Kennedy, and Free P Star.

Les Puces de Saint Ouen /Open every Saturday, Sunday, Monday /http://marcheauxpuces-saintouen.com/1.aspx
Guerrisol / 31 avenue de Clichy / La Fourche
Free P Star / 8 Rue Ste Croix la Bretonnerie  75004 / metro: Saint Paul

Guerrisol

Square Georges-Cain

Located just in front l’Institut Suédois, I go there for a walk, get some fresh air and chill. During the summer I’m there every weekend.

Square Georges-Cain / Rue Payenne 75003 / Metro: Chemin Vert

Square Georges-Cain

La Petite Louise and the “fur neighborhood”

The workshop is located in the historic fur manufacturing area in the 10th district. When I walk in the street I feel like I know 80% of the people–it’s like a family. The landlord of the workshop lives just next door, in the street I see my suppliers or friends who are journalists.

A place I especially like in this area is la Petite Louise. Located in front of the town hall, it’s a real local bar where locals come to hang out, as well as bobos from Republique. It’s kind of my HQ — cafe the morning and beer at 7:30 pm on the terrace.

La Petite Louise / 54 rue du Château d’eau, 75010 / Metro: Chateau d’eau

Le Baron

For parties, le Baron. Not too original but I have good times there and the signature cocktail is effective. After one of them your girlfriend is wasted and after three you are.

Le Baron /Â 6, avenue Marceau / metro: Alma Marceau

le baron

In 2002, established musician Brice–guitarist and drummer in a number of bands, including Elevate Newton’s Theory & Rodeo Massacre–created April 77, a brand for rockers like him. With punk rock inspirations and some collaborations–most recently this October with Mondkopf–his skinny jeans are worn by hipster cuties from New York to Sydndey.

He tells us where to eat vegan burgers, buy records, and play soccer whiledrinking beer.

Stolly’s:

Americans would call it a dive bar… A little irish pub/sportbar where people come from all over, especially English speakers. The music is 100% inde/punk/classic rock. There we run into locals, hipsters, rockers, alcoholics, artists, people working in fashion. A few months ago I took Karen’O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs there. I think she kept a good memory of it because that night we played soccer in the bar…

Loving Hut:

So yes, the shadow of a sect (Supreme Master, the 2 TV screens are here to remind us of it) hovers over this restaurant of le Boulevard Beaumarchais, but whatever… After all, a sect promoting animal freedom and that cooks the best vegan burgers in Paris–I’ll take it.

Loving Hut / 92, boul. Beaumarchais / 75011 paris

The Vegan Burger

Le Souffle Continu

One of the last rare indie record shops of Paris, but it’s also the record shop with the most obscure and edgiest selection. In addition to finding the complete work of the label Southern Lord, reissues of Dischord, and do it yourself tapes, you’ll also find occult books.

Le Souffle Continu /Â 20-22, rue Gerbier / 75011 /

Le Souffle Continu

Rock N’Roll Voltage

Another indie recordshop, but this one is more fun because of the brothers (I’ve never figured out if they were twins or not…) who are in charge of this shop of heavy metal/ hard rock / hard FM/trash/speed/black metal vinyls.
They are real nerds, and they know everything about everything and have tons of stories about their youth when they were roadies for Poison and Motley Crue.

Rock N’ Roll Voltage / 23 rue du Roi-de-Sicile / 75004 Paris

The Old Egypt section of le Louvre

All is in the title…
Better than the Catacombs and certainly less redundant, the Egyptology part of le Louvre has fascinated me since I was a child.
I think it’s important today, in the context of the uprising of the Egyptian population and destruction of the local patrimony, that the museums protect this culture, the ancestor of our civilisation.
Even if we can criticize the sometimes uncertain origin of the museum pieces, today they are safe and will be witnesses for the future generation.

Sometimes life is hard and boring, especially the Monday following the Fashion week craze. Everything seems closed or empty when after a first day of work you just want to chill with your gang and meet random girls. And because at Ten Days In Paris we believe it’s never too early in the week to be hungover, we’re publishing our top picks for a productive Monday night.

Chez Janou

Located in le Marais, they provide great provencal food. But mostly the best pastis selection in le Marais. More than 80 different kinds of pastis. No better way to start the night than duck and pastis.

Chez Janou /2 Rue Roger Verlomme 75003/ Metro: Chemin Vert

Chez Janou

Stollys

Perfect for pregaming. Sometimes you will find British cuties, sometimes French, but you’ll always find pitchers of cheap blonde. Located in le Marais, you just have to sit on the patio, order a beer, and listen to the rock n roll music.

Stollys / 16, rue Cloche Perce 75004 / metro: Saint Paul

Prescription Cocktail Club

If you don’t feel like beer, you can go for cocktails in this clandestine bar of Saint Germain des Pres. Bring your gold card and enjoy some absinthe based drinks.

Prescription Cocktail Club / 23 rue Mazarine, 75006 / Metro Saint Germain des Pres

Prescription Cocktail Club

Le Montana

The Saint Germain des Pres club and Fashion week hotspot is still open on Mondays. After getting wasted at Prescription Cocktail Club, it’s like the logical next step. And who knows, maybe the models dancing won’t notice that you can barely walk and smell like absinthe.

Le Montana / 28 rue Saint Benoit 75006 / Metro: Saint Germain des Pres

Le Montana

Le Baron

If you didn’t make out after trying all these place there is still le Baron. A concert (often very bad) until 1am, so be fashionably late and come at 2am. One of the best nights at le Baron–no suits and only people wanting to enjoy themselves dancing to some 80s music.

Le Baron /6 Avenue Marceau, 75008 / Metro: Alma Marceau

Le Baron

Also open: Le Sans Souci / if you live in the north and are too stingy for a cab /Â 65 Rue Jean-Baptiste Pigalle
Experimental Cocktail Club / Another clandestine cocktail club /37 rue saint sauveur
La Perle / Eternal Marais hotspot /Â 78 Rue Vieille du Temple
