On Saturday 3rd October 2009 the change of the artistic direction of l’Alternative was celebrated. A new team, le Tigre, decided to turn the often-empty electro-techno specialized club into an indie rock club. As Valentine, the head of communication, says: “Le Tigre has ambitions to set up the first selective rock club in Paris”. This follows the successful model of Andre’s le Baron, but in a Rock version.

For this launch party the team brought the very punchy french band Mystere Hyde, led by the captivating lead singer Doris. This was followed by a DJ set of indie rock songs. The club was packed with creative industry people. We noticed the Andrea Crews girls and Gaspard from Justice, who seems to be a bit bored in Paris as we had already seen him the day before at the private showing of le 12 Mail.

A great ambition for them, in which we hope they will succeed. Paris clearly needs this kind of place, so we can finally dance to Rock music after 2am somewhere other than the aging Truskel, where the population is not always spectacular.
