In la rue des Trois Fréres, a tapas bar lies nestled in the lively uphill ascent of other restaurants and shops. La Guêpe, a new addition to the Montmartre neighborhood, exudes an enticing and vibrant flair upon entry with a chill but happening atmosphere. Red, orange and yellow accents bring a Latin warmth to mind and the romantic lighting makes one want to linger into the night drinking fraise mojitos. Watch from behind the mosaic tile bar if you wish to indulge or to socialize, but either way, the service is fast and the space is cozy. Rum infusions are a specialty here. Come for dinner? Read the hand written menu on mirrors and chalk boards to see the offerings of the day. Luckily, the selection is original, suiting all pallet’s desires, and not to mention the gourmet presentation makes for a nice surprise considering the reasonable price (3-5€). Tapa standouts include the duck empanada, carpaccio, mozzarella, polenta frites and also the dessert- the tapas sucrée (pineapple rice pudding) bursts with summer flavors and is heavenly refreshing. Come here and stay late into the night, lucky for us La Guêpe is even open Sundays.
