As typical Parisians, we are really fond of the classic beer  & cigarettes on a terrace. You know, to appear tan even if we stayed in le Marais all  summer, to feel a bit like we’re in a Godard movie and enjoy a bit of skirt-watching. Here are our top picks for this summer:

 

Le Progres

Sunny 8am to 8pm, le Progres is the classic spot for having a beer and a cigarette in le Marais. Perfect after a long afternoon of shopping rue Vielle du Temple or watching cuties walk with their shopping

Le cafe de Flore

Usually we avoid any places which are in Lonely Planet. However, this one, frequented by the french intellectuals in the 60’s, is now maybe overpriced but has a certain charm and is frequented by international cuties (models & fashionistas).

Le Mansart

The new hotspot of this summer. Huge terrace, cheap beer and South Pigalle vibe. If it’s maybe not the best spot to see hotties walking down the street, it’s because they’re sitting next to you or inside playing foosball

Cafe Cherie

Belleville is one of the places that bobos love (because it’s cheap and dirty) and we almost never go because we spend all our time in le Marais and Pigalle. This terrace is cool and very sunny. For girl watching, the area is full of Asian prostitutes.

Chez Jeanette

Our favorite PMU (dive bar) of le Faubourg Saint Denis, packed by the creative crowd of the surrounding offices (Savoir Faire, Uzik, Vice France, WAD…) it’s the perfect spot for a beer after a long day of work (or when the normal people finish work).

Cafe de l’Odeon

Located in front of le theatre de l’Odeon, they serve good snacks in a similar vibe to the Roman piazzas cafes. A perfect spot for a beer after an intensive tanning session at le Jardin du Luxembourg.
